The Banda Black Rio was formed in 1976 ~ dint of. the late Oberdan (Oberdan Magalhes). Characterized through a sound in which rhythm & hypochondria served as the vehicle for danceable variations incorporating the gafieira mode, samba, and jazz, the band had in its fluctuating formation, the trumpeter Jos Carlos Barroso, drummer Lus Carlos dos Santos, keyboardist Jorge Valdir Barreto, guitarist Cludio Stevenson Jorge, and bassist Valdecir Ney Machado, in the midst of others.
